GeneLink’s innovative exploration and product expansion programs have literally created an entirely new industry being called Dermagenetics© which is the scientific application of DNA analysis to establish and create customized and more effective skin treatment products.
After almost 10 years of research, in 2005, GeneLink launched its subsidiary Dermagenetics, Inc. This was a revolutionary moment where GeneLink had taken years of research and applied it to a consumer item for consumption.
The Dermagenetics Skin Care System customized skin care products to an individual’s DNA by using the company’s patented genetic evaluation process. The heart of this examination procedure is the breakdown of an individual’s SNPs – single nucleotide polymorphisms (or ‘snips’ as they would say in the field).
SNPs are natural variations in each individual’s DNA. While 99% of all human beings share the exact same DNA, these SNPs are the unique DNA chemistry that gives each individual their unique characteristics – be it physical appearance or physiology.
